"What Remains" - Main Line Independent 2024

Main Line Independent reached out to us last August with the idea of their show. The directors had a clear vision and after a few conversations we were able to come up with a concept and moved forward. All of these ribs are on mobile platforms and are composed of three pieces to achieve the overall height of more than 10'.

Hot wire cutting the rib.

Once the basic shapes are glued together I start the carving process. First with a hot wire knife, followed by a grinder with an aggressive wheel and finish up with a good sanding to blend.

Rough shaping the base of the rib.

I use a 24" hot wire knife and reciprocating saw to rough out the curves and the go to the grinder for the concave details.
