It all started with a request from my daughter's band director at Downingtown West High School for a new keyboard and sound cart. Once a carpenter is discovered among a marching band they will always be busy every weekend of every fall for the foreseeable future, especially when said carpenter is the son of a former well known marching band director himself. This one request has turned into six years of helping to design and figure out how to build all sorts of projects with varying budgets.
The commercial transformation came when the school purchased new 34' trailers in 2020 and requested a bid to outfit these trailers for the marching band. This project led to the design of customized percussion and instrument trailers that can be seen around the Mid-Atlantic region. They are quite a sight. Then there was the need for new speaker carts, then floor carts for the indoor programs, and of course, props.
Props are by far our favorite projects to participate in. We love taking someone's story and figuring out how to bring it to life on the floor or field. Some of our proudest creations were the aluminum platforms for Fusion Winter Guard's 2023 show "The Beat" and Downingtown West Indoor Guard's 2023 show "Amelia" with a 70% scale replica of Earhart's famous plane along with 16' tall aluminum radio towers. For the 2024 season we partnered with Main Line Independent for their show "What Remains" and Unionville High School Indoor Guard's show "Above the Beanstalk".
